History
The
University of Minnesota--Twin Cities student chapter of the ASME was founded in 1913. Since then, it's grown to
become one of the largest, most well-known academic organizations on campus.
Today, there are over 170 members and the chapter routinely places high
in regional and national competitions. In 2002, the chapter's former president,
Jon Robelia, led a team that won the regional student design competition
ASME. Also in 2002,
the ASME team won the overall
competition at the IT Olympics.
